Rainforest Publications’ Panamanian Amphibians Fold-out Pocket Field Guide shows 118 of the 206 amphibian species recorded for Panama: 110 of the 164 frogs and toads; 5 of 30 salamanders; and 3 of 12 caecilians. Species not included here are rarely encountered. The species distribution within Panama is indicated by letters after the English name: West includes the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Veraguas, Herrera and Los Santos; Central includes the provinces of Cocle, Colon, Panama and the western part of San Blas: East includes the province of Darien and the eastern part of San Blas. The gorgeous illustrations on this fold-out field guide were created by British naturalist, Mark Wainwright, who has lived and worked in Monteverde, Costa Rica, since 1991. The illustration of each species on the field guide is accompanied by the name of the species in English, Spanish, and Latin.
